Summer School 2012

This year the Summer School of Polish Language and Culture has for the 17th time taken place at the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.


Almost thirty foreigners from Europe (Germany, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine), North America (USA) and Asia (China, Taiwan) were learning Polish during the three weeks in August.

The participant were assigned to a groups according to their level of language advancement and could choose one of the three groups, each at different level of language proficiency.


We also organized a series of lectures on Poland’s contemporary history (after 1945), Polish cinema, contemporary literature and language, all given by specialists in those fields of study.


Apart from the activities at the University, which included lectures, language classes and workshops conducted by AMU employees, we offered a rich cultural program and excursions. This year the students had a chance to go sightseeing Gniezno, Lednogóra, Toruń, Kórnik and Rogalin. Above all, they got to know well most of Poznań's tourist attractions. Students took part in various cultural events, which were organized in Poznań at that time, such as the Transatlantyk Poznan International Music and Film Festival, EthnoPort Festival, or the Festival of Good Taste, which promotes the traditional regional food products.
